The former artistic director of the Sarasota Ballet of Florida has recently published his memoir, Destiny's Waltz: In Step with Giants. It details his impressive international career as a dancer, director, choreographer, designer and his work with the likes of Rudolf Nureyev. Also, The Gulf Coast Symphony presents the East coast premiere of Chris Brubeck’s symphonic suite, Quiet Heroes based on the book “Flags of our Fathers” in honor of the 65th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. Hope for Haiti Committee

There’s a group of Floridians who want to do their part in Haiti. But, beyond donating money and goods, this group wants to rebuild. A group of 25 residents from the Boca Grande community on Gasparilla Island has raised 100-thousand dollars to build a village in Haiti. They're working with the group Food for the Poor. We talk with two of the members about their project and why Haiti cannot be forgotten. It’s also Tuesday’s from Tallahassee and another look at this year’s legislative session with Democratic State Senator Dave Aronberg.

The Digital Filmmaking Studio Lab is bringing some of the world’s most renowned filmmakers to Ringing College in Sarasota to work collaboratively with Ringling students on learning the process of motion picture and television development by working on actual projects. The program exposes filmmaking students to top writers, directors, and producers. Also Ringling’s new Cinema Lounge at the Westfield Sarasota Square Shopping Center shows 20 of the best Ringling senior animation thesis films for free at the mall. Students transformed a vacant storefront and now they get to show off their work.

The Florida Legislature will consider a number of bills during its upcoming session that deal with texting while driving. We'll hear from State Senator Frederica Wilson and State Representative Doug Holder about some of those bills. We’re also joined by Jay Anderson from the Stay Alive, Just Drive campaign. And we’ll hear from Zachary Rivera, the Florida Junior Civitan Lt Governor who’s part of the “Be a No Phone Driver” campaign – it’s an effort to get people to stay off their phones or mobile devices entirely while behind the wheel. What options are there for seniors who want to stay at home instead of entering a nursing home? In our second program on Senior Issues we’ll talk with what are called “aging in place” specialists about how to retrofit a home, in a stylish way, to make it possible for many to live out their lives in a familiar environment. We're joined by the founder of GreatGrabz to learn how to make your home safer. We'll also hear from folks at Senior Bridge to learn more about geriatric care and aging in place. The Renaissance Academy is offering a course on the issue. Also on the show we’ll ask the question – when is the right time to take away a person’s driving privileges? We’ll look at a statewide program that can help assess a senior’s ability to drive as well as find other options for mobility.

A south Fort Myers nursing home is under investigation for possible elder abuse. Every year the Agency for Health Care Administration investigates hundreds of similar complaints. In part one of our series on senior issues, we take a closer look at nursing homes and long term care facilities. Also joining our panel is the Florida Long Term Care Ombudsman Program. We'll discuss what people should be asking about these sorts of facilities. We're also joined by the AARP to find more answers for seniors across the state. We’ll try to debunk any myths as well.
