&amp;quot;With the Wild Things&amp;quot; is a daily radio program produced by the
Whitaker Center in the College of Arts &amp;amp; Sciences at Florida Gulf
Coast University, and is funded by the Environmental Education Grant
Program of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;&lt;u&gt;The radio segments focus on: &lt;/u&gt;&lt;/b&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
-factors that contribute to Florida&amp;#39;s rich biodiversity and unique ecosystems
&lt;br /&gt;
-how human population growth and development have reduced and
fragmented natural habitats reducing biodiversity and endangering many
species of plants and animals
&lt;br /&gt;
-how the loss of biodiversity impacts listeners
&lt;br /&gt;
-efforts being made to reduce negative human impacts to natural ecosystems
&lt;br /&gt;
-ways to preserve Florida&amp;#39;s biodiversity for present and future generations
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;b&gt;&lt;u&gt;Programs feature various Florida ecosystems, with a special emphases on:&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/b&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
-coastal ecosystems
&lt;br /&gt;
-public lands such as parks, wildlife management areas, etc.
&lt;br /&gt;
-private agricultural lands, such as cattle ranches, hunting
plantations, and silvicultural operations and the practices they employ
to manage and protect wildlife and plants -- especially endangered
species.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In general a single topic is presented each week, with a different aspect of the topic presented each day.
