Changes to FM program lineup

Beginning Monday, June 30 listeners to WGCU FM radio (90.1/91.7) will hear a new lineup of programs Mondays through Fridays at 1 pm. 

Mondays @ 1 pm Radiolab An experiential investigation that explores themes and ideas through a patchwork of people, sounds, and stories. In each episode, Radiolab experiments with sound and style allowing science to fuse with culture, and information to sound like music. Hosted by Jad Abumrad with co-host Robert Krulwich, Radiolab is designed for listeners who demand skepticism but appreciate wonder. Reairs Monday nights @ 8.

Tuesdays @ 1 pm TED Radio Hour  Each episode is a journey through fascinating ideas, astonishing inventions and new ways to think and create and includes riveting excerpts from the renowned TED stage where some of the world's deepest thinkers and innovators are invited to give the 18-minute "talk of their lives." Host Guy Raz interviews the guests, delving deeper, dissecting the speaker's ideas and posing probing questions.  Reairs Tuesday nights @ 8.

Wednesdays @ 1pm WGCU’s Gulf  Coast Live! WGCU’s live, locally produced, call-in radio show focusing on issues that matter to Southwest Floridians. It's your chance to share your thoughts and connect to your community.  Listeners can interact with experts, decision makers and each other via phone calls, emails, , and on Facebook. (Gulf Coast Live is moving from Wednesdays at 9 am. The BBC NewsHour will air on Wednesdays.)

Thursdays @ 1pm On the Media Hosted by veteran journalists Brooke Gladstone and Bob Garfield, On the Media decodes what we hear, read and see in the media, and arms us with critical tools necessary to survive the information age. With compelling reporting and uncommon insight, the program uncovers the significant issues of the day and carefully exposes the relationship of the media to culture and society. Fridays @ 1pm America’s Test Kitchen   This food program is filled with clear, practical information, without the gourmet fuss. Hosted by Chris Kimball, the hour is all about insights, tips and techniques that illuminate the truth about real home cooking. There will be some mystery, too, like why bad things happen to good recipes and the science behind good results.  Reairs Friday nights @ 8 

Travel with Rick Steves on 90.1 FM  Wednesdays @ 8 pm In addition, WGCU is adding the radio version of the popular TV program Travel with Rick Steves. A lively mix of guest interviews and listener calls, Travel with Rick Steves goes beyond the Europe that Steves is famous for, with shows covering travel and cultures across every continent. ".
