The Naples Council on World Affairs presents a speech titled “Turkey, the United States and the Middle East” by Steven A. Cook. He’s the Douglas Dillon Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. His expertise on Turkish politics is manifest in his book, “Ruling but Not Governing: The Military and Political Development in Egypt, Algeria and Turkey”. He is currently writing a book about the United States and Egypt. He will address Turkey’s struggle between secular and religious rule, and her controversial entry into the European Union.
