Inventing Tomorrow Virtual STEM Workshop for MS and HS Educators
May 5, 2021 @ 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM EDT
Join WGCU for a special Inventing Tomorrow Educator Workshop for middle and high school educators. This FREE workshop provides teachers with learning resources and video content, based on the Peabody Award-winning PBS film Inventing Tomorrow, centered on the exploration of environmental problems and the process of science. This 60-minute training will empower teachers to help students engage in collaborative work, participate in citizen science, and explore local issues in their community all while developing students’ ability to think about the interconnected nature of Earth’s systems. Participants can expect to be introduced to the learning modules, lessons, activities, and engage with free tools available to them for teaching science.
The workshop will be led by Anthony Edward Grisillo, affectionately known as Mr. G, the 2014/15 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year, a 2014 Making a Difference Award winner, and a VOYA National STEM Fellowship Master Teacher.
Each participating educator will receive one (1) DVD copy of the film, complete with an educational screening license (courtesy of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). In addition, each participating educator will receive EITHER six (6) FOLDSCOPE foldable microscopes OR one classroom WaterInsights water-testing toolkit (Each kit includes materials for up to 40 students).
